Local Route Driver (Non-CDL)
Houston, TX | Full-Time | 12-Hour Shifts | Schedule Based on Operational Needs
Position Overview:
The Local Route Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of finished architectural glass products from our Houston manufacturing facility to customers throughout the local and surrounding areas. No CDL is required. This is a hands-on delivery position, and drivers are expected to assist with handling, securing, loading, and unloading heavy architectural glass.
What You’ll Do:
- Safely operate company-assigned non-CDL delivery vehicles to transport architectural glass to local customers.
- Inspect loads and ensure glass products are properly positioned and secured to prevent shifting, damage, or breakage.
- Assist with the safe loading and unloading of glass products at company and customer locations.
- Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects or safety concerns.
- Follow applicable DOT requirements, traffic laws, and company transportation and safety policies.
- Verify delivery documentation and obtain required customer signatures or proof of delivery.
- Immediately report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, product damage, or delivery delays.
- Maintain communication with the Logistics team regarding delivery status and route-related issues.
- Assist warehouse personnel with loading and unloading using approved manual methods, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle.
- Assist with warehouse or other operational duties when not assigned to delivery routes, as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle being operated.
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial, delivery, or route-driving experience.
- Acceptable driving record in accordance with company and insurance requirements.
- Must successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including background and motor vehicle record (MVR) checks.
- Familiarity with applicable DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Experience transporting architectural glass, construction materials, or other fragile materials is preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely handle, move, and secure glass and other materials associated with deliveries.
- Ability to operate a sit-down forklift or willingness to complete company-provided training and certification.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow assigned delivery schedules and routes.
Physical & Schedule Requirements:
- Must be able and willing to work 12-hour shifts.
- Must be physically capable of safely lifting, handling, moving, and assisting with heavy pieces of architectural glass throughout the shift, individually or with team/mechanical assistance as appropriate.
- Must be able to remain active and on your feet for extended periods during the shift.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing, shipping, logistics, or production-floor environment, as applicable to the position.
- Must follow all required safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
- Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.

Employees are expected to follow all company safety rules, glass-handling procedures, PPE requirements, equipment procedures, and applicable transportation or production standards. Unsafe conditions, damaged products, equipment concerns, or other safety issues must be reported immediately.
